Marine Superintendent

Purpose:

To support & understudy the Marine Manager in providing maritime expertise and support to the Organisation & Fleets, ensuring that operations are managed safely, efficiently and in full compliance with relevant legislation, industry best-practice, client requirements and internal policy.

Key Deliverables:

Providing a visible and effective leadership example in RQHSE standards at all times, to all business partners, stakeholders and colleagues

  • Engaging in Vessel Visits and inspections to promote the Company’s Safety Culture and operational excellence in all vessels
  • Supporting and pro-actively driving RQHSE campaigns and initiatives throughout the organisation

Administration of the Company’s Safety, Security & Environmental Management Systems (SSEMS)

  • Supporting the Marine Manager in administering and managing the SSSEMS to ensure compliance and alignment with legislative requirements and industry best practice
  • Act as Deputy DPA & CSO for the Company’s fleets and operations, in the absence of the Marine Manager
  • To provide front line support to vessels in matters relating to performance management, RQHSE performance, crew morale and seamanship
  • Co-ordinate minutes/reports from Master’s Reviews, Ship Safety & Ship Management Committees and Commander Conference Calls, and ensure action on items raised
  • Under direction of the Marine Manager, conduct audits to ensure on-board implementation and compliance

Fleet Operational Management

  • Supporting the Marine Manager in administering and managing company procedures for deck operations, as well as necessary charts and nautical publications for the GMSL fleet.
  • Supporting the Marine Manager in managing the Operational Assurance Team, ensuring effective delivery of their responsibilities and work schedule to a high standard

Emergency Response Team and associated activities

  • Where directed by Marine Manager, provide necessary support for the Company’s Emergency Response Team
  • Supporting the Marine Manager in administering and managing associated processes to ensure they remain updated and relevant to business activities and structure, and meet industry standards

Supporting the Company’s commercial activities

  • Supporting the Marine Manager in providing relevant Marine Operations, Emergency Response and Security-focussed documents required to support sales, bids and awarded projects

Incident Investigation & Support

  • Support investigation of Marine Operations and DP-related incidents, including onward reporting to industry schemes

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

Required

  • Certificate of Competency and/or relevant industry experience in similar role
  • Willingness to travel internationally, at short notice where required
  • ISM Auditor accreditation
  • Experience and ability of working in a dynamic organisation, to strict deadlines and the highest standards

Desired

  • DPA Certificate (recognised by MCA)
  • CSO Certificate (recognised by MCA)
  • Incident investigation training
  • Experience of working with industry & trade bodies
  • Experience of the marine telecoms, power, Offshore Renewables and/or Oil & Gas Industries

Location: Chelmsford, Essex (UK) and on Company vessels (worldwide)
